Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana pengalaman menonton Boy’s Love (BL) Asia dan ketidakterpaparan pada genre tersebut memengaruhi penerimaan audiens perempuan Indonesia terhadap BL lokal. Dengan menggunakan Reception Theory (Hall), Cultural Proximity (Straubhaar), dan Female Gaze (Hemmann), penelitian ini menganalisis posisi decoding audiens dalam memahami representasi relasi sesama jenis. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi kasus kualitatif melalui Focus Group Discussion (FGD) dengan dua kelompok informan: penggemar BL dan non-penonton. Data dikumpulkan melalui diskusi dan observasi respons verbal dan non-verbal terhadap cuplikan film BL Indonesia. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pengalaman menonton BL luar negeri memengaruhi pemaknaan dan ekspektasi terhadap konten lokal. Penggemar cenderung bersikap terbuka atau kritis konstruktif, sementara non-penonton menunjukkan resistensi karena pertentangan dengan norma budaya dan agama. Faktor budaya dan preferensi emosional perempuan turut membentuk resepsi terhadap genre ini.
