Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis strategi komunikasi penipuan digital yang menyalahgunakan identitas institusi negara, khususnya Direktorat Jenderal Bea dan Cukai, melalui pesan WhatsApp. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan paradigma kritis, studi ini membongkar manipulasi struktur tanda (logo, bahasa formal, nama pejabat, templat resmi, istilah hukum, batas waktu, ancaman) yang menciptakan ilusi otoritas palsu. Analisis semiotika Saussure membedah konstruksi makna, sedangkan konsep simulakra Baudrillard dan kuasa simbolik Bourdieu menjelaskan pembentukan realitas semu dan dominasi simbolik. Temuan dari 414 sampel menunjukkan pelaku merekayasa kepercayaan melalui visual dan verbal, membentuk realitas palsu yang dianggap lebih nyata dari kenyataan. Penipuan ini bukan hanya kejahatan finansial, melainkan distorsi komunikasi yang mereproduksi kuasa simbolik di ruang digital, menundukkan korban melalui manipulasi psikologis. Studi ini menekankan pentingnya literasi digital komprehensif untuk mengenali manipulasi simbol, serta perlunya strategi komunikasi proaktif pemerintah mengikis kepercayaan publik terhadap simulakra otoritas palsu.
